Sydney day 2

Rising at 7.30 to beat some of the heat (about 23c at that time) John Lulu and I headed out for an early morning run into Bondi Junction then on to Centennial Park. Although one or two steepish hills it was mostly a flat circuit beside a horse track encircling a cluster of lakes in lovely parkland. We were joined by numerous other runners who invariably were a bit faster than us but not embarrassingly so

We rendevoused with Ying at the Centennial Homestead cafe/eatery in the park where Ying and Lulu had a particularly lovely Pecan bread with whipped ricotta and blueberry jam (and coffees)

The girls walked and John and I ran home completing an about 8km circuit

Then off to Paddy’s Market where Ying went wild buying every fruit and veg she could find (she chose, I paid, Lulu carried) from the mostly Vietnamese stallholders (the Vietnamese immigrants worked on Australian farms and gradually progressed to owning them selling the produce at market

Pears, peaches, bananas, “sweet banana”, longan, lemons, onions, spring onions, several types of tomatoes, then onto the fish counter for Ling and Salmon, resisting scallops and prawns and crab (today)

Met up with Em and Cheng, Kev was working, and had nice ice coffee with Banh Mi and chocolate strawberry in the newly extended Paddy’s food hall

By 6pm we were out again at Chat Thai for a very nice but quite spicy Thai meal, green curry, crispy pork, prawns in minced pork, and papaya salad

At 8pm we were at the Sydney Opera House which looked splendid with Sydney Harbour Bridge opposite, for a concert of Mozart and Bruckner and a new work that was apparently about birds evening song…
