Castle of Mey and Orkney wildlife Cruise

The day started well with breaks in the cloud and good visibility across the bay. Skeins of geese trailed across the sky commuting to ?Canada

We stopped at the Castle of Mey (holiday castle of Queen Mother) and visited the walled gardens

NB interrupted blog as ran out of data allowance for 24hrs (blasted 24Mb photos!!!)

After Castle of Mey we drove over to JOG where the Deloitte charity bike ride was finishing!!! We got the Pentland ferry and had a nice cruise across to Stroma (my first girlfriend ) and saw seals and shags but sadly no dolphins or Orca, and most wildlife sadly had already migrated away

However the Stacks of Duncansby were impressive if difficult to photo in the light

Finally returned to base via Dunnet Head (lighthouse and old WW2 radar station and rewarded by a lovely sunset to round off a busy day
