Day 23 our final day, back to Chennai

Poori and aloo masala for breakfast yummy

Off back to Chennai for our last day, a large bustling (which Indian city isn’t) city, to our hotel Taz Kamar. then off to FabIndia, India’s answer to John Lewis. Onto Express Mall the biggest shopping centre for samosas and chicken tikka, and more lassis

Down to the beach and rather odd video installations at the museum of Vivekananda, and finally a chicken Biriani and mutton (goat) Biriani for supper

Highlights

And so our time in India draws to a close

We’ve seen so much of India and at the same time so little

The Indian people have been overwhelmingly lovely friendly helpful and welcoming

My own highlights in no specific order and acknowledging the risks of making comparisons

  • My three travelling companions
  • Most welcoming temple and meal – The Golden Temple and meal in the Langar Dining Room
  • Most comfortable temperature – Ooty
  • Most rural atmosphere – Camel Fair in Pushkar
  • Most informative guide – Mahabalipuram
  • Most surprising religious monuments – Mahabalipuram
  • Best Seafood – Prawns on beachside in Mahabalipuram
  • Best drink – Lassi in Amritsar
  • Most drunk drink – Lime soda (no salt no sugar)
  • Most surprised / raised eyebrows – waiters when we asked for the above
  • Place I’d like to revisit most – Jaipur (only because we only had 1/2 day there).
