China Day16 Three Gorges

Unfortunately just as we approach one of the highlights of the trip, I’ve been struck down by a dodgy prawn, or salad or something so confined to the main boat

So handing over to my deputy editor as my guest author for the day

White Emperor City

Essentially a hill in the middle of the original gorge and has become an island since the dam. There are now 350 steps (out of original 1000). Alternatively you can hire a two man sedan team to carry you up at pace (cost higher if you weigh more than 80kg)

Zoom in to see coffins suspended off the cliffs. The higher the more auspicious

Qutang Gorge

Probably the biggest gorge. You get a flavour of Waswater in the Lake District UK

Ying went on the “mini cruise” (30people per boat). To me looks more intimate and closer up

Unfortunately although warm and mostly sunny, it also retained a typical mistiness. Locals say the rain and climate is good for tea!
